My dad, Keith Pember, discovered a tumor on his leg. They found it was a sarcoma, an aggressive Cancer. It tripled in size in just over a week. Doctors wanted to amputate his leg to “save his life.” He and my mom were serving a mission in South Africa, they flew home and arrived today for more tests and treatments, starting medical procedures over, in order to get care. We don’t know what the outcome will be, but we were able after a long day and night were able to get him admitted to Mayo
We’re continuing to pray for miracles. We’ve recognized so many already, grateful to doctors, friends and family who’ve provided some of those tender Mercies and sharing their knowledge to guide us. Please join us in prayer as we know there is strength in numbers.

Thank you for all the love and continued prayers. …progressing and moving forward
No answers yet, still strategizing and more tests for the best plan of attack!

Regional Unified Swim Competition!! They all were incredible, beat their own personal times, did their best! Wow!! So proud of them and their accomplishments!! Congratulations!! Worked as a team!
Made it home just in time!! Couldn’t miss this event with these incredible athletes!! Thank you parents and friends for all your support to make this happen
Sarah DaleyMax and Matthew were surprised to be invited to join in the competition last night! I’ll share my pictures later, but this was such a cool experience for all my boys! Unified Olympics is a little different from Special Olympics, and I’m so grateful I accidentally ran into
Anna at the beginning of the school year.

In individual races, Ben took 3, with his best time ever. (They were done in heats, not timed including all the kids at once. This was a local race, not a
certified one.) Max took 2nd in his heat, and Matt did his first full solo swim across the whole pool, and took 6th in his heat. Poor dude was EXHAUSTED, but so proud of himself. (And so am I! He loved how everyone cheered him on as he struggled to finish.)
Then the boys did some relay races. I missed the announcement of which of their teams placed where, but both Max and Ben (Matt didn’t do this part) felt like they swam super fast and their teams definitely won.

All children slept very well last night, and were still up crazy early this morning. Kinda sad that swim season is officially over. Next up will be softball.

We drove as fast as we could up to Utah when we heard, one of our big brothers, Jon needed our support. We made it in minutes to spare, we arrived early enough, but with all the construction had to walk/run and play frogger a long way after parking.

Charlotte said “I guess we needed our exercise,” As we ran around the block not wanting to miss court. (I always appreciate her positive outlook.)
it’s been three years since we have gotten to see him. It was such a fun surprise and all the smiles!
They’re keeping him detained a little longer because the house did not get approved yet.

(so we would appreciate any prayers on that matter.) There’s so many hands in the game. Each person has to push their button.

but he sure had a big smile on his face when the three of us walked in the courtroom and we did get to tell him we love him, and he quietly yelled he loved us back. Lol! The judge allowed it

Wow!!! What a day!! Happy birthday
Harrison is so well loved and my heart is bursting!! Thank you to all those who made him feel so special. He was so excited about his choir concert on his birthday. He’s an incredible young man that keeps breaking down barriers! Football has become one of his new passions, a long with airplanes. He just keeps blowing my mind. He hasn’t let his disabilities slow him down, he just works extra hard and finds ways to accomplish it or train his mind and body to work. I can’t wait to see what this teenager does!

What is GLP-1? Why is it VITAL to health? What is this craze in the world right now with synthetic, injectable Rx’s in this space?

Why are some calling the semaglutide and tirzepatide ‘Miracle’ drugs
for individuals with Type II diabetes? Why should all of this matter to me? To my kids/
family? #s

Yay!! My parents got settled into Mayo Healing Home yesterday. Thank you Satya for getting that all arranged. I was happy to get to spend some time with them this morning, after flying in from our conference. My dad’s tumor is growing quickly in size, now the size of a cantaloupe

we have a meeting with the surgeons, doctors, specialists and family on Wednesday at Mayo to learn and come to a decision on how to move forward. We are anxious to just get it out, but we are
trusting and having patience. Thank you so much for all the prayers. We continue to pray.

Such funny little things that bring so much joy!!!

like watching your 16 year old daughter with cerebral palsy walk off bleachers and the stage with no crutches and blended in with confidence.

She didn’t even bring her crutches to the concert tonight. She said she felt strong and balanced. But also huge congrats to all the choirs tonight, Beautiful performance

So grateful for an incredible music program and the willingness to create inclusion amongst the
students and teach such wonderful talent. Thank
you

Grandpa Pember/Dad update:
Thank you for all the love and prayers
We finally got to meet with the whole oncology “cancer” team.

With all the findings from all the testing done they have chosen to have Dad/grandpa do 5 weeks of radiation therapy. He will have radiation 5 days a week for 5 weeks. He wlll then have 4-6 weeks for recovery and his skin to heal from the radiation. During this time he will be in pre-rehab/physical therapy. After recovery from radiation then
they will go in a surgically remove the tumor. (MIRACLES- the tumor has not touched the main blood vessel or the sciatic nerve) At this point he needs NO chemo! Such a blessing….

Radiation is targeted and will only be radiating the tumor on his leg.
Please have specific prayers to the cancer staying contained during this process and not spreading. The doctors seem pretty confident in this process and don’t have concern of it spreading during radiation.

They call this protocol “a limb sparing procedure” their goal is to give grandpa/dad full use of his leg and because of where the tumor is growing they have full confidence in sparing (not amputating) his leg.

Faith is a choice. Strengthen your faith, and live to be deserving of the Savior’s approving words: “Great is thy faith.” As you do, I promise you that your faith, through the grace of Jesus Christ, will one day allow you to stand with those you love.

I absolutely enjoy working with the author, an incredible woman, Carrie Dickie, who has lead a life of courage, love and success. I love that we get to learn from her

“Carrie sat halfway back in her classroom and tried to be invisible. She loved her teacher and her
classmates, and loved to learn, but a voice inside her told her she was not smart.”
Carrie Dickie's and Anna Merrill’s “Raise Your Hand” gives kids a good lesson in learning, feeling alone, and how being confused in and out of the classroom is normal.

Anna Pember Merrill you give me courage and strength. My kids don’t even know bout this book or my story. Thank you foe the support and encouragement!

Mind
Body
Soul, so important to pay attention to all three for your overall health. Community, being a huge part of that! We got to experience the love of community last night. Such a wonderful surprise not only getting to spend the evening with all our friends at church, with a fun Trunk or Treat, but our friends from our LifeVantage family, the Ebert family, showed up to visit on their travels. It was such a fun reunion, kids going through the dress up chest while the parents got to visit and catch up. Then off to celebrate a well loved tradition together
Happy Halloween
Sending Fun Haunted Hugs
